Teledyne LeCroy Announces New ASA ML v1.1 Automotive SerDes Compliance Test Software
New ASA ML v1.1 Compliance Test Software and High Definition Oscilloscopes Enable Deployment of Autonomous Vehicle Technologies
Chestnut Ridge, NY, June 18, 2025 – Teledyne LeCroy today announced a new, automated compliance test option for the Automotive Serdes Alliance (ASA) Motion Link (ML) v1.1 specification – one of several new automotive serializer/deserializer (SerDes) in-vehicle network standards targeted at the data transfer needs of highly autonomous vehicles.
SerDes devices transfer large amounts of data in one direction and are ideal for transferring information from a network of sensors and cameras to an in-vehicle processing unit that then creates instruction sets necessary for autonomous vehicle operation. Several competing automotive SerDes standards are vying for primacy, including ASA’s ML, MIPI’s A-PHY and Analog Device/OpenGMSL’s Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSLTM). Teledyne LeCroy is actively involved with all those standard-setting organizations.
Teledyne LeCroy’s new QPHY2-ASA compliance test software for ASA Motion Link v1.1 benefits from Teledyne LeCroy’s extensive and early ASA ML standards committee and plugfest involvement. The compliance test software anticipates testing requirements based on what ASA member companies are in the process of finalizing and is available early in the ASA ML v1.1 adoption curve. The QPHY2-ASA software is supported on the world’s highest resolution high-bandwidth oscilloscopes – the WaveMaster 8000HD Series – which provides up to 65 GHz of bandwidth with 12 bits of resolution. This oscilloscope bandwidth is more than adequate for current automotive SerDes baud rates and provides capabilities to test future, faster baud rates as ASA ML continues to evolve. Furthermore, the WaveMaster 8000HD’s 12-bit resolution provides the most accurate characterization and measurement of the pulse-amplitude modulated (PAM) multi-level signaling that is utilized by ASA ML. Together, Teledyne LeCroy’s compliance test software and WaveMaster 8000HD oscilloscopes uniquely ensure the reliability of data transmission necessary for confident deployment of autonomous vehicle technologies.
